by The 14th annual Russian Cultural festival took place in Wellington on November 24, 2018, It is a bright event in the life of the Wellington Russian community and their friends. This festival has been organized by Wellington Russian Club. The event is financially supported by the Embassy of the Russian Federation, and local organizations (Wellington City Council, PubCharity, Community organization grants Scheme), and individuals (Tatiana Wilson).
The Festival has been growing in popularity and this year even more people came to get acquainted with Russian culture and cuisine. The traditional Russian dishes, delicacies, and pastries were lovingly prepared by the members of the Russian Community.
The Festival was full of creativity as photographers and artists exhibited their works for all to see and admire. And of course, there was a big concert as well. As per tradition this year’s concert had performances from musicians and dancers of Auckland and Wellington: dance group “Smuglyanka”(head Alexandra Pavlyuk, Auckland); folk music ensemble “Troika” (Director Alistair Kathil, Wellington);dance group (Director Galina Zilina, Wellington); musician and singer Alexei Medvedev; choir of the Russian Orthodox Church (head of farther Alexey Popkov, Wellington); rhythmic gymnastics group(head Sharon Duda); ballet teacher at EnPointe Dance Academy Alina Kulikova; singers OlgaPanassenko and Anastasia; dance and music group “CCCP” (head Vladimir Zvegintsev, Wellington.)
Thematically, the concert program was combined in three blocks: “My Russia”, “Russian North” and”Retro dance floor”. It turned out to be a great concert, which everyone enjoyed very much!
The organizers have made a lot of effort to make this event really interesting for everyone. TheWellington Russian Club thanks all the participants and guests of the Festival who helped to make the day unforgettable.
